Welcome Isang

She's not exactly what we prayed for. Apparently, she's the answer... We were supposed to welcome her last night but it was raining hard. Today she came despite the heavy southwest monsoon rains enhanced by Tropical Storm Isang. Maybe we'll just call her Isang to remind us of this special day. Isang will be a blessing to us just like the showers of blessings.

Labor of Love

Instead of the usual brisk walking on the athletic oval of CvSU, we decided to take a walk around the campus. And we walked past the dragon fruit plantation. I remembered taking a close look at the banaba tree in the corner. It has grown taller through the years. It was planted by Bobby one morning many years back when tree planting was a regular activity in the university every month of July. The alibangbang I planted just beside the banaba grew but it was removed along with the other plants in the row. :(

Brigada Eskwela: DAFE Style

Vacation is supposed to be over but the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) postponed the opening of classes at the tertiary level from June 8 to June 15 due to the H1N1 virus, the inclement weather, and resource generation of parents. The week will then be spent on the remaining preparations for the school opening. It's Brigada Eskwela time for the faculty of DAFE...

People's Park, Davao City

I've been to several parks in the country but the one in Davao City is different. At the entrance, we were subjected to a security check. As if we were entering a mall. Separate lines for males and females. The guards checked our bags and searched our bodies. Well, thanks to the efforts of Mayor Duterte in keeping the peace and order situation in the city.

My brother-in-law is right. The People's Park of Davao City is much more attractive and cleaner than Rizal Park. Oops, peace Mayor Lim.

Unfortunately, we only had our cameraphones which didn't do justice to capturing the nice spots, especially the colorfully-lit water fountains, cascading waters, and the sunken garden.

Philippine Eagle Center

From Toril, it took us two jeepney rides to reach the Calinan junction (in Davao City, everything is far and wide). Then, our group of six boarded a tricycle going to Malagos. It was a relief to reach the Davao City Water District Malagos Watershed Park after the fumy uphill ride. We were like smoked fish due to the exhaust of the overloaded tricycle. The Philippine Eagle Center is home to Pag-asa, Kalayaan, Arakan, Marikit, Aling Naty, and other Philippine eagles that are bred and held in captivity. It also hosts other birds and animals like monkeys, crocodiles, deer, and wild boar.
