Since I completed my college degree in October 1985 and the board exam would be in September 1986, I worked as a contractual intake worker for Plan International, which had a field office at Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. After a short training, we were deployed in Mogpog (February - March 1986) and later in Torrijos (March - April 1986) for a few weeks of interviewing deserving families in the rural areas and looking for children who would qualify as foster children of benefactors from developed countries through the Foster Parents Plan. After the interviews, we wrote case histories for each of the families with the hope that their lives would change for the better with a little help from those who care to reach out to them.
