Since our flight was scheduled on the first day of November, which is a regular holiday, we left early for our commute to the airport anticipating heavy traffic because of the migration to the cemeteries. Alas, traffic was unusually mild so we arrived four hours before our flight schedule.
As the plane descended, I saw rows and rows of oil palms lining the landscape. The touchdown was okay and we took the bus going to the city. From the central terminal, we just walked to find our hotel.
On day 2, we took the one-hour bus ride to Genting Highlands. I just learned later that it's the only place in Malaysia where gambling is allowed. The thrilling part was, to reach the park proper, all guests have to go through the skyway. That means taking the 15-minute breathtaking cable ride which spans 3.38 km up to the peak. I just don't know the actual height of the gondola lift. On our way down, it was just like moving down from the clouds. We decided not to take the park rides but simply enjoyed the gardens and the displays in the resort. All we bought was our souvenir photo from the cable ride and a bag of pistachio nuts.In the city, we tried the monorail and light rail train rides until we reached the famous towers. No need to go up the tower. Gazing from below was good enough to admire its beauty. We discovered that photos of the structure at night are more dramatic because of its glittering lights. The dancing fountains on one side of the towers are also worth seeing.
KL is clean and the sidewalks are friendly to sight-impaired residents. The mass transport system is so dependable.
