It was my second time visiting this nominee to the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The first time was in
August 2007. What makes this visit more special is that Bobby was with me on a package tour to this famous UNESCO world heritage site.
On our way to Sabang (81 km north of Puerto Princesa City, approximately 2 hours of travel by van) which is the jump-off point to the river, we dropped by the Buenavista view deck for a short break and have a view of the Ulugan Bay. Then we proceeded to Sabang and ate our lunch while waiting for our turn to be transported to the next stop. By the way, the package tour cost Php1,500 per pax (we were given a Php100 discount by our contact) inclusive of transportation, permits, entrance fees, and lunch.
After a 20-minute boat ride, we reached the cove that leads to the cave entrance. As we passed through the boardwalk, we saw a lot of monkeys in the trees. There were even monitor lizards on the ground. The boardwalk led us to the waiting area going to the cave. The outriggers plying the route can accommodate up to 10 passengers and there was a long queue.
Finally, it's our turn. We were seated in the front row and Bobby had the privilege of holding the lamp powered by a car battery so we would have a clear view of what was inside the cave.
Here we come... stalactites and stalagmites. Pillars and columns of different formations, shapes of vegetables, animals, and other images. Awesome! Thanks to our boatman who gave us background information as we sailed. He kept on describing and pointing to us the unique features of the karst formations... plus the timely jokes.

It was just a 45-minute ride but it gave us the opportunity to appreciate one of God's wonderful creations. The place truly deserves to be in the top seven wonders of nature.
